I really enjoy GQ (including the British version) and Men's Vogue, despite my non-dude status. I find Details to be absolute shit though.

A friend mentioned Men's Non-No which is Japanese but its something and seems to have good pictorials of recent male fashion shows.

Nylon Guys is all testosterone, all the time! Fuck yes!

It is very squarely focused on the young&hip demographic, and if that sort of thing makes you cringe, it is not for you. It is chock full of fly retro sneaks and loud graphic Ts, vinyl toys and sweet music reviews. The models wear chunky black glasses and supertight skinnies. Oh, god, I love Nylon Guys.

I am a lady but I actually like reading both. It covers my X and my Y.

If you're going for the sophisticated look, the best is Men's Ex. It's not published here but you can get Japanese bookstores to reserve copies for you. Men's Non-no is also good and tend towards the slightly more hip and casual. Those bookstores should also have it.

For Details and GQ, skip the subscription and scan through most of the sections at men.style.com.

I stopped by the Kinokuniya bookstore in San Francisco yesterday and didn't see Men's Ex on the shelves. It turns out they only stock 1 issue of it on the shelves. There was however plenty of Men's Non-no. The only other magazine I found that fit my style was GAINER. I'd say it's about 70% fashion and the remainder is food and restaurants in Japan and editorial columns. Men's Club is also supposed to be good but I didn't see it there.

For a list of all Japanese fashion magazines, here's a Wikipedia list. It's linked to the male 20s section and the next section is male 30s.

Each issue will cost you about $10. If you're lucky, the bookstores will also have backissues in the shelves.
