I haven't used any in particular, but a bit of info to help you if you're up to some more googling.

It's not the template's job, start looking for a component or module that will allows for such a thing. The template should really be about layout, where functionality comes from components and modules.

Also, I use a joomla template for my site... the easy peasy Ad component that I use is Mod HTML.

I've got about 5 joomla sites. 1 using adsense. I found it MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to hardcode the adsense stuff into the index.php instead of trying to use a component for it. It's probably easier now, but it doesn't get a *lot* easier than /cut /paste.

Joomla should be able to imbed your flickr/youtube stuff w/o an issue. There are a bunch of components to do it a little more intuitively, but advicepig is right---it's not the template, it's the component.
