No new news?

Help make news and daily trivia more interesting!

Given that I spend probably too much time browsing around and looking at useless bits of information, I was wondering if I could put my time to better use while still being entertained.
I enjoy knowing about the news, but don't enjoy reading newspaper articles. Even with the internet, we seem to still be stuck reading newspaper articles for information (even if they are online). Is there a better way?
I'm basically looking for something that encapsulates daily events in a fun and interesting way that would make for interesting browsing while still being informative.

For crossword puzzles that incorporate daily news into the clues try Cricklers.
