Question: Amy Winehouse kitten?

My cat has a tiny raised white bump above each nostril. Where did they come from? I have a fifteen week old kitten, and today when he came to snuggle with me, I noticed something that wasn't there before... above each of his nostrils is a tiny, brilliant white spot that is slightly raised. They look almost like particles of styrofoam or powdered sugar, they're almost perfectly symmetrical, and they're not surrounded by any sort of rash... the rest of his skin looks totally normal. I took a damp washcloth and tried to remove them, thinking they were some kind of kitty snot, but they don't budge.

I've had him since he was eight weeks old, and he has tested negative for feline herpes and FIV. He's up to date on his shots, and he's due to get first his rabies vaccine later this week. His behavior is unchanged, he's as playful and affectionate as ever.

Does anyone have an idea of what these could be? Will they go away without medical intervention? I tried google already with no success.

Take him in for a regular checkup and ask the vet.

It sounds like they might be analogous to the harmless skin tags on humans, but you never know; cats will act perfectly healthy and happy all the way up until they're nearly past help (pretending to be fit as a survival mechanism).

I wouldn't freak out or anything, but it's worth getting it looked at if you're worried.

if he's due for his rabies vaccine later this week, ask the vet while you're there. if you're just scheduled to see a vet tech, they'll probably have a good idea of whether or not they should drag the vet into the office to check out your wee one. good luck!
