Web remote control

Easy web remote control software?
I'm looking for some kind of lightweight software I can run on my PC/Mac that I can launch/control my media via a web browser (be it phone/pda/tablet, etc..)
Salling clicker and Remote buddy are cool, but a bit overkill, and only run on certain devices.
I don't need any visual feedback, but it would be nice to have that ability to get data back from the server (IE current volume, current song, etc...)
If there isn't, how hard would it be to DIY? I'm guessing Apache + (any recommendations? and how?) + batch files/applescripts?

Do you want to launch media on the PC/Mac or the portable (phone/pda/whatever)?
Ampache (I'm using it), TVersity, Orb are all nice solutions. Could you be more specific about the media (music or videos?), the frontend platform (PC or portable)?

Remote control. Not streaming to a device, and not remote desktop.
At the most basic level, an html page showing up on a device with a web browser.
Play
Clicking the link causes the server to play music. Nothing changes on the device.

Ah, then it's going to be media-player specific. I use Winamp to play my music, and absolutely love WAWI. Works on even the most basic html browser. There's probably a bunch of stuff for other players like VLC, WMP, etc.

Forgot to add any info. Just copy this DLL to your Winamp plugins folder and configure it from the plugins window. You don't need anything extra since it includes its own minimal webserver to serve the pages. MefiMail me if you need help.
