Question: Firefox, don't push me away.

Why are my Firefox privacy settings getting changed every time I exit and restart Firefox?

This started happening about a week ago. I'll open FF, and notice I have trouble logging into my typical sites that require a login (AskMeFi, Gmail, etc). In options, I see that under History, the first two boxes have been unchecked (keeping history for 9 days, keeping what I enter in forms and search bars). More importantly, under Cookies, the option to accept cookies from sites is unchecked. I check them and carry on in FF, but if I exit and restart, they are unchecked again.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox. I also run Digsby, which seems to have no problems keeping me logged into Gmail, Facebook, etc. I've installed and uninstalled several apps and extensions, so I'm not sure what I could trace it to. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox today, but that didn't have an effect.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Check that your Firefox profile folder isn't flagged as Read-Only.
The folder is typically under c:\document and settings\(username)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(bunchofweirdlettersandnumbers). Right-click on that folder and select Properties. The first tab that shows up should have the folder attributes listed at the bottom. Uncheck the read-only flag and see if that changes anything.

Thanks, that helped, tmt, but when I logged in this morning, the directories had been set back to Read Only. I am going to surf off of FF portable on my thumb drive, and maybe do a clean re-install on my box.
