Is it possible to fix my noise-cancelling headphones?

I bought a pair of Sony noise-canceling headphones (MDR-NC6) just a few months ago. I"ve enjoyed them often, but they've never had to endure particularly rough treatment. Recently I noticed the right side doesn't work at all. No music, no noise canceling. Left side plays fine. The switch that controls the noise cancel is on the right side, and it lights up just fine when I turn it on, and the noise cancel on the left side works fine as well.

I haven't done much more than shake them in frustration at this point. I don't have any paperwork for them, warranty-wise (dumb, I know). Is there anything I should try to do with them before I junk them and shell out $35 for another pair?

Have you tried calling or contacting Sony for repair? They may not bother with asking for warranty evidence (receipts, etc) since it is such a cheap item, and replacing it would be a simple act of goodwill. You really have nothing to lose at this point.
