This would be a bad year to miss the playoffs

Anyone know a place in Bangkok to watch the NBA playoffs?

How about the MBK centre? I mean, it's not your traditional sports watching centre - but when I was there I remember watching international sports on the TVs in the shops. Thinking a better option, maybe in a bar on Khao San Road? Full of tourists yes, but there would be a demand there for a bar to turn to the NBA playoffs I'd think.

If your knot is getting access out of the U.S., you can find some places that stream the games live online. It's pretty grassroots, probably because streaming TV broadcasts is akin to downloading MP3's -- bound to be sniffed out by regulators.

The sites I use (in the order that give the best leads):

Usually you can watch the banter on the right side and people will post links for where the streams are. There are also channel selections on the left, and WMOE1, WMOE10, ESPN1 have often streamed games from ESPN. Keep an eye for the moderators, who are listed in yellow, they actually host the channels from their home TV and provide adequate leads on where to find the games.

A program for streaming television. Channel 37452 is usually the NBA channel. (But beware, it may be in Chinese.)

This site is a channel guide for games listed on SOPCast, or other progs like TVAnts (which I haven't tried yet.)

A site which allows users to broadcast their content. Some channels I've looked into are:
http://www.justin.tv/jayrntv
http://www.justin.tv/rntv95
http://www.justin.tv/gsgorveatt
The hosts here aren't as great probably because of user agreements, so I come here more so to watch the chat for people giving links to where the games are being streamed.

These sites are pretty bare bones and similar to any sharing that is just getting started on the net. A big source for online streaming NBA games used to be Raptor Nation, but they died out a couple weeks ago just at the end of the seeding push and people were scrambling to find streams. Hopefully these links won't get too well known before they are forced to shut down. But as a guy without cable or satellite TV access, I was extremely pleased to watch games on my comp. Hats off to the hosts!

Khaosan road would be the place to start looking (As it is for most things) both in the bars, and ask around, you never know what might turn up - I ended up watching the Liverpool vs Man Utd match on Easter sitting outside with the friends I was traveling with, and our Thai friends we'd met out on Koh Chang who invited us up to join them specifically to watch the match on a TV the lugged out onto the side of the street so we could all sit around and enjoy it.

Response by poster: Yeah, I'll start on Khao San. Now to figure out if they're broadcast live or tape-delayed. Thanks all.
