Trying to remember the name of a PBS show from my childhood...

What was the name of a bizarre kids show that aired on PBS when I was a child (mid-to-late 80's) that stared two kids who traveled to some warped universe to solve puzzles?
Thinking back it was probably originally a British show, although I'm not sure. I remember that there was a "base" that they normally started and ended their adventures at that contained a talking computer with a really harsh sounding voice along with an intelligent typewriter that would type out responses to the children. Any ideas? It has been bothering me for awhile because I remember really liking the show but no one seems to remember it except for me. Maybe I dreamed it? I dunno..lol. But I would feel better if someone else out there knew what I was talking about.

Response by poster: No, Ghostwriter was more recent (and more popular) than this show.

Did this involve putting on really cheesy elbow length gloves decorated with shiny bits.. possibly sequins? There might have only been one glove, I can't remember exactly.
If it's the show I'm thinking of there was also a villain who was a large bearded fellow. I remember really low production values... if it wasn't British it was probably Canadian.

Sound a little like the Tomorrow People-- kids with magical powers who could teleport and had a secret base with a talking computer.

Was this live action or cartoon? There weren't any "puzzles," but part of your description reminds me of The Tomorrow People.

I knew it was Read All About It as soon as I read the question. I loved that show, we had to watch it for school. It was Canadian, I'm pretty sure.

Read all about it....discover some clues. Something something something.
I LOVE THAT SHOW. Listen to the theme song here.
The same site had basically every episode for download at some point but the link seems to be broken :(
What a trippy, creepy, weird and awesome show. Dr. Who for little kids...I think watching it as a young child permanently affected my brain.
