Drinks near Empire State Bldg?

Nice place to have drinks with a client around Empire State Bldg?

I'm out on the West Coast, and my boss has asked me to set up a meeting for drinks before a party @ the Empire State Bldg this weekend. Can you suggest anything in the blocks near the building? My google/yelp searching isn't really getting me in the correct area.

If there's no decent proper bars, a restaurant/bar would also be totally ok.

Thanks! Forgive my NYC ignorance!

Well, if you like beer, there's the Ginger Man.

Depends on the day -- from Thursday on, it can get loud + crowded -- but Under the Volcano is an attractive, calm place to sit for a drink and maybe some slightly-less-pubbish snacks. It's across the street from the Ginger Man.

Dewey's Flatiron is a fine and decent place for a drink, it's about nine blocks due south. It's not nearly as cheeseball as their website suggests. I look forward to the other suggestions as there are few places in the world better then midtown New York to have a drink. Oh and Artisanal is also a grand place for refreshment and sublime noshing.
