Non-binary fink install? April 14, 2008 2:49 PM Subscribe
I'm a little unclear on the concept - Does the lack of a fink binary distribution for 10.5 mean that every package has to be built from scratch? posted by mzurer to computers & internet (4 comments total)

Yes, that's right, as far as I'm aware. posted by chrismear at 3:10 PM on April 14
i know this doesn't answer the question, but fink has been supplanted by macports, which also seems to be a non-binary package manager. posted by sxtxixtxcxh at 3:11 PM on April 14
I was aware of macports but has it really replaced fink? I thought they were sort of concurrent, but I may be wrong... posted by mzurer at 3:25 PM on April 14
Perhaps sxtxixtxcxh is confusing fink with darwinports (macports' old name)? posted by zamboni at 4:04 PM on April 14
