Google Analytics absolute unique visitor stats gone awry?

Google Analytics: my absolute unique visitor (AUV) trend is upwards, growing fast and in absolute terms is MUCH higher than the same period in March. But when I compare 2 weeks of April with 2 weeks of March I see a negative trend for April.

Is it possible that the unique visitors in 2 weeks of March are not counted when comparing the 2 weeks in April thus showing my reduced numbers?

I cross-checked by doing day by day comparisons that showed that I
have significantly higher AUV for the comparison periods in April than in March. Also, all the other metrics support the view that there were more traffic and activity on the site: visits, pageviews etc.

Thanks!
