I need a great allergist in New York City. I told the guy I have been referred to that I get sick from February 15 to April 15 and he told me "dust mites". I didn't realize they migrate! Do you know of a great NYC allergist? Let me know.

Dust mites can, indeed, be seasonal, as they survive within a fairly narrow temperature/humidity range.

Dr. Yalamanchili Rao, in Brooklyn Heights. I probably got the spelling wrong, but I was SO PROUD when I learned to pronounce his name.

Gillian M. Shepherd, MD
Weill Medical College of Cornell University
comes highly recommended and rated. Google her name for more information. I'm groping for something useful to say... All I can say is that I was satisfied as her patient, she handles patients with respect and the office ran well. (I had no major problems.) good luck.

I really liked Dr. Clifford Bassett when I was his patient ten years ago, and I think he cured my allergies. A few times I crawled in when I felt really awful -- I used to get tonsillitis and sinus infections all the frikkin' time -- and he was attentive and caring. He was occasionally too hurried when I came in for my weekly shot, but it wasn't a big deal.

A really excellent doctor, who listens to what you say, has a great office staff, and is involved in the most up-to-date treatments.

I went to Dr. Jenny Cho 212-956-0187 who is an ear, nose, throat doctor. Not an allergist, but she helped me deal with my allergies.

Wow.

I am sorry that I haven't seen this until now.
On the chance that you either haven't found someone or are dissatisfied with that person,

Dr. Deborah Weichenberg is both my wife's (cats - despite being a crazy cat lady) and my (hayfever so intense my nickname at work is Sneezy) allergist.

Good manner too, none of the the "I am a DOCTOR,and you are lowly patient" attitude.

Cool, I saw Dr. Clifford Bassett today (I was expecting him to look like a dog with that name) and found out that I am allergic to dust mites. I'm glad to see him recommended here after the fact. I have a follow-up appointment, but it sounds like it's fairly common and treatable. If you need an ENT, I saw Dr. Jessica Lim (186 E. 86th St., 212-434-2323) and she referred me to Dr. Bassett.
