Where can I get a decent men's haircut in Albuquerque?

I'm looking for a new place to get my haircut in Albuquerque, NM. Preferably on the west side of town. Any recommendations for specific people/places? Men's haircut, open to various price points. My hair is coarse and thick, short, and very straight, and it's always been difficult to get a cut that looks just right. Bonus points for someone who can work without me needing to tell them exactly how to do it. Thanks!

jroybal - you'll likely get a much better range of answers for this very localized question from the friendly folks over at Duke City Fix.

I don't have the data to support this, but I think there are less than 20 burquenos on Metafilter. I'm one of 'em, but my wife cuts my mop.

I just had mine done by Tammy at Amore Salon (4th and Osuna area) and I love it. I'm not sure, but I'd guess she also does men's hair. mefi mail me if you want her number. But yeah, Duke City Fix is probably a good bet.

As an ex-hairdresser, I will tell you that bringing a photo of the style that you want is the best way to get the results that you are after. In addition, explaining (as you did to us) your "hair concerns" should help her/him to give you the best cut you can get. ("bad" cuts are often the result of miscommunication between client and stylist, photos just help everyone to stay on the same page)

Are there any Asian (esp. Hong Kong) concentrations in Albuquerque? Your hair sounds very much like mine (mine's also really dense) - maybe find a hairdresser who Hong Kongers in Albuquerque like?
