Question: Help me find a creative meets MBA job in Boston

Where should I look for a job in the Boston area that will blend my MBA with my creative background?

I am getting my MBA from Boston College and my undergrad is in motion pictures from the The University of Miami. I have worked on a bunch of films and music videos in numerous capacities. I have done a lot of marketing, positioning and product development work in the past. I actually have specialized training in the later grouping beyond my MBA.

I recently moved to the Boston area to work for a startup that is experiencing financial trouble, so now I am hunting for work elsewhere. I have been sending out some resumes without much success. My contacts in the area are minimal (even with the MBA classes) so networking is pretty difficult.

So

1) Any specific companies I should pursue, monitor, etc?

2) Any thoughts on good networking ideas?

3) While my resume is not a mess, it lacks something in that while I have created a bunch of great ideas and possibilites for my current out of money employer, they never had the money to execute them. They have not even gotten up the new website I created. I am not sure how to express my potential when most of my past work (the best stuff on my resume) is still...potential!

Any insight as to what titles you absolutely won't be going for?

Also, you really need to talk to the BU career services office and start networking in the MBA alumni association, those are going to be some of your best bets.

There are many advertising/marketing agencies in the Boston area who would likely welcome your skill set: Corey McPherson Nash, Digitas, Euro RSCG, and many more. You could go the MBA angle, working in the Marketing groups; or, take the Creative angle, using your film/video knowledge. There's also Account Planning, which take the strategic view of creative. There's good money in the industry, you'll meet smart people, and the networking opportunities abound. Full disclosure: I personally work at Digitas in New York.

You could also go the local arts groups route. Having worked at a theater that could have used some good strong business sense, I know your MBA would be appreciated in that realm.

I should have mentioned: The BC career office has not been a huge help. I think they are mostly aimed towards the full time students. They helped with my resume a bit, but then it got shredded by some other people that looked at it, so now I don't necessarily trust that either.

As far as titles I won't be going for...probably anything involving the words "Sales" or "Accounting", etc. I am not a numbers guy, so any job that involves lots of financials is not my thing, nor so I do sales.

Thanks so far, keep the answers coming!
