Am I about to ruin my bathtub?
I have an antique porcelain clawfoot tub. Will a large volume (10 or 12 litres) of hydrochloric acid pit or stain the surface?
My alternative is an old oil drum in the backyard (pros: fumes, won't wreck my bathroom; cons: no drain, neighbors can see).
Or should I be using quicklime or lye instead?
(Sorry for the multi-part question- this is the first time I've done this and I don't want to screw it up)
