Grandcentral.com questions that the help files don't seem to answer.

Can you send a fax to a Grandcentral number? Can you call one collect? Can you call one (collect or otherwise) from jail?

I'm planning on using one for work purposes (I work with lawyers) and we were wondering what the limitations of these numbers are.

Have you tried doing these things?

That would probably be the easiest way to find out.

Can you send a fax to a Grandcentral number?

According to Google, no.

No, you can't send a fax to a Grandcentral number.

My thought re: calling collect — the system acts as a forwarder and filterer, correct? So the query for collect calling would be forwarded to whatever number is picked up ... and be charged against that number.

I don't think you can call collect. Calling a Grandcentral # from jail also would be problematic, since it's typically a violation of jail calling policies to do any sort of call forwarding or conferencing.
