Wine pairing: what un-pretentious snacks go with pomegranate wine and a silly movie? Bonus points are not given for "hard to find" or "time consuming."

Almonds, plain simple raw or roasted almonds. Pistachios would be OK too.

"I bet the tartness of the wine would go hell of well with some sharp cheese popcorn."

How about good ol' Alton Brown's Fromage Fort? You can either clean out your fridge of all your old leftover cheese or have 15 minutes of fun shopping for random cheeses, and it's goddamned tasty.

If you can't find the Hot Cheese Popcorn that Stewriffic links to, and you do have a Walgreen's nearby, you might be able to find this Hot Cheese Popcorn, which I affectionately call "crack corn".

slices of grilled halloumi cheese with crusty bread. crispy, gooey, really easy to make- just slice and fry til crispy in an ungreased non-stick pan.
my australian/brazillian buddy swears by it for all occasions.

Best answer: In the end it's going to be plain old microwave popcorn. If I weren't in Japan, the orange colored cheese popcorn would totally win. If it weren't absolutely pissing outside, making driving or bicycling a miserable experience, I'd be all over the hummus. Hopefully I can follow up on these another time.

Response by poster: Also, I was really hoping to see that the Fromage Fort involved making a castle out of cubes or other small shapes of leftover cheeses. Imagine my disappointment to find there's a food processor involved.
