Question: Mobile Broadband in Central London?

Mobile Broadband in London? I'm moving to Central London and would love any recommendations for mobile broadband access. Who are the providers? What are the best packages?

I'll be in Central London (Pimlico) for the next couple months then moving but probably staying in a central-ish area.

If nobody uses mobile broadband in central London because there is a better Wi-Fi provider that blankets that whole area, then I guess I'd love to know that too.

Essentially, I'll be doing a lot of work on my laptop but want to move around a bit (to parks, cafes, etc) as well as have Internet access independent of where I'm staying.

Thanks!

this lists all mobile broadband (3g) options. if you need 100% coverage, you'll need one of thse. presuming that you're not a UK resident, and therefore maybe won't pass a credit check (?), the pay-as-you-go accounts are probably your only option.

there's lots and lots of 3g in central london - though it's not 'blanket' - so you may find that that's enough for you. if so, check out the cloud, bt openzone, or t-mobile. the latter two allow you to roam between their networks at no extra charge, which is what you need.

t-mobile, in general, is probably the best provided, if you can get an account with them.

If you are only there for a few months you won't want a contract. As such a Pay as you Go (PAYG) option is best. As such for 3G your best choice would be

http://threestore.three.co.uk/payg/?modem=1&id=1201

One off setup and then pay as you need

Thanks everyone! I'll look into these options.

I'm moving to London..well, permanently. But I do realize I'm starting off with zero, credit-wise.
