Question: PocketPC Security Software

Looking for Windows Mobile 6 security software for a phone running Windows Mobile Professional. Especially looking for something that will auto-encrypt or auto-delete PIM databases after a number of incorrect password attempts.

I'm looking for software that will lock the screen and buttons when the PDA is turned on, and require a password, either an on-screen PIN or button entry - I don't want to have to get my stylus out to check my email.

I would also like a poison pill where the system would hard reset after a number of password failures, or failing that at the very least it would autodelete the internal memory and PIM data. It would also be great if such a program had an OEM install version so I could put it directly on the firmware of my PDA when flashing a new ROM, but that's more wishful thinking than an actual requirment.

I would be willing to pay for this software, but cheaper is better and free is best.

Thanks!

P.S. I know there is a built in security app that has an on-screen PIN pad, but it can be bypassed via activesync, which is one of the reasons I want to replace it.

Also, ActiveSync does require the pin. The only way it gets bypassed is if you tell ActiveSync to remember the pin when syncing. Otherwise, you have to enter it every time.

SlyBevel, I'd seen that and probably should have mentioned it, but there weren't any answers there that do what I want, unless there's a way to move the PIM databases into an seperate encrypted volume I'm not aware of.

The only likely candidate from that previous post is that PocketSecure program. I've tried it and it really doesn't work very well on WM6, it causes system slowdowns and doesn't properly catch all the system power events, so it rather randomly locks or fails to lock when you turn the PDA on.

I've also been recommened to try something called mSecure PDA, but they don't seem to sell it with less than 10 licenses, and while I said I'm willing to pay I'm not willing to pay THAT much.

Check out Sprite Terminator.

Although I don't think it will do what you want exactly, I know that if you lose your phone you can send it a text that will wipe EVERYTHING to prevent people from finding your contacts and other secret documents you are harboring.
