Fun getaways near Washington DC?

I am going to DC next week and want to do something fun outside. Perhaps a getaway or packages with hotels included. Anyone know of anything for this time of year for the outdoors types who also love luxury?

I'm not sure if it's open yet, or if it's quite what you're looking for, but there's a spot near Georgetown where you can rent canoes, rowboats or bikes and spend a day on the canal.

Harper's Ferry and Shepherdstown, WV are are fun places to visit. There have been a couple of Askme threads about stuff to do in Harper's Ferry (the comments tab will lead you to a couple of more posts about it), and Shepherdstown has some fun shops and is just nice to walk around. There are a ton of b&bs in the area, and the Bavarian Inn.

Take Macarthur Boulevard out from Gtown past the beltway up to Great Falls for some hiking --- lots of people go birding up there too, might be nice in spring. It's rocky and hilly enough that it shouldn't be too spring-muddy. Other hiking choices include Rock Creek Park (which also has bike routes and horseback riding) and Turkey Run off the GW Parkway on the VA side ...

Mr headnsouth & I spent our wedding night at the Tabard Inn off Dupont Circle --- it's a great, quirky, interesting hotel/bar/restaurant in a great, quirky, interesting and centrally located part of town. I'd stay there every time we visit if we didn't have so many friends & family members there.
