Twitter SMS Problem: Direct Messages Always Comes in Two's March 7, 2008 8:41 AM Subscribe
I use Twitter and have direct messages sent to my phone. Any time someone send me one message, I get two SMS messages on my phone. I hate that. How can I make it stop? posted by abbyladybug to computers & internet (5 comments total)

Have you tried unsubscribing and re-subscribing after a few hours? posted by beaucoupkevin at 10:16 AM on March 7
That happens to me too and I hate it. It's because Twitter insists on including instructions "reply d [username] hi" and so on. If a tweet is short enough, you will only get 1 SMS. I've tested this because I am completely annoyed by the silly 1-2 line SMS that always comes after a director.
Unfortunately, I don't think it can be helped unless Twitter changes that functionality. posted by GS1977 at 10:48 AM on March 7
Have have not tried this thing, but so far, I haven't talked to anyone who has not had this be a problem. I was just wondering if there was any way around it. posted by abbyladybug at 10:50 AM on March 7
Well, I just submitted a request to Twitter about the issue. Maybe you should do that too?

OK, just unhitched phone from Twitter. Readded. Test message. The short one sent only one message. The long one (140 characters) sent two. Lame! posted by abbyladybug at 3:59 PM on March 7
