User/Password Error Keeps Cropping Up with WebCam NX Pro FTP Settings

Web Cam ftp problem - I have a Creative WebCam NX Pro and, when setting up the ftp settings to upload images to a web page, get an message saying "Error in username, password". I have double and triple checked that the settings are correct and have tried using a different ftp account, but the error still comes up. I can log into the server using either account via Smart FTP, Cute FTP or via a command prompt without problems. Creative's on-line support does not help at all and my searches on Google have yielded nothing.

I am using Win XP Pro and accessing the 'net via a dial-up connection. In trying to resolve this issue, I have disabled the standard Internet Connection Firewall and Zone Alarm, but this has not changed anything.

Might be a passive FTP issue. Look if there is something to check to use passive FTP. Otherwise I have no idea.

Response by poster: I thought of passive ftp (although there is no real reason why I would need this, not being behind any sort of firewall), but there is no place to choose this on the software.

I've got a Creative cam, too, and for months mine wouldn't work, either, despite having worked just fine in the months prior. Same as you -- no rational reason that I could find. And then, yesterday, for no reason at all and for the first time in probably four for five months, I tried it -- and it worked. I have no explanation at all, and wish that I could tell you how it went from Working to Not Working and back to Working again.

Guess I just wanted you to know that you weren't alone!

Good luck.

Response by poster: In the interests of closure, I finally got a response from my query to Creative's e-mail support:

Good day. Thanks for contacting Creative Tech Support.

We regret to inform you that we do not have Passive FTP feature, and there is no configuration for that. Sorry for the inconveniences caused.

Have a nice day!
