Name a pet supply store in Baltimore!

My friend has a fabulous little pet supply store and she needs a new name for her new, 3 blocks away, larger store. Unfortunately, a large pet food manufacturer has decided that her current name is too close to their name and they have sent off a couple C&D letters. Alas, but it's cheaper to switch than fight. Therefore, I turn to the hive mind. Also, it's an awesome store or I wouldn't be doing this. She sells all things dog and cat - raw and organic food, nifty toys, gourmet treats, etc - and various stuff for small mammals. Short, funny, cute names would be very wonderful.

How about Scratch and Nibble? Might get confused customers calling occasionally, but no one would forget it.

3-Dog Monte: the sign and business cards could feature a spoof of E. C. Coolidge's "Dogs Playing Poker" paintings, with a depiction of a kitten dealing to three puppies.

Start with A so it lists earlier in the yellow pages. Probably lots of stores called "Animal ..." So you'd want a name beginning with Aa thru Am.

Active Pet Supply
Admirable Cat & Dog
Adelphi Animal

I hate to say it, but stores called "AAA ..." get lots of business from the yellow pages.

If that's not a real consideration, I'd suggest:

Marmadaisie's
New Tricks Pet Grocery
North Charles Canine and Feline Outfitters
Pet Place

That's a myth. Stores with an ad in the yellow pages (even a small 2x2 ad) get more business than the stores in the alphabetical listings, because consumers associate the ability to afford an ad with professionalism and success.

Amyms, you're right about the ads, but that doesn't negate people's tendency to call from the top of a list, or for the 411 operator to read you the first name, or for someone checking an online yellow pages to start with "A."

It may be small potatoes compared with the revenue from a paid advertisement, but why not take free measures to keep a business on the top of a list? Not everyone's gonna splash out the bucks for an ad, anyway, and this question's about store names, not advertising budgets.

I worked for a place once that appeared first in the yellow pages, and we got a lot of business that way. The word 'A' will appear before 'AA', so 'A Pet Store' would appear before 'AA Pet Store' and after 'A Better Pet Store'.
