The best advice your doctor ever gave you

Besides the obvious (don't smoke, eat well), what is the best health-related advice you ever received from your doctor, nurse, dietitian, acupuncturist, or herbalist?

If you want to lose weight, eat less and exercise more. And stay away from carrots - they're high in sugar content and therefore contain more calories.

Avoid super-cold water or other drinks. It irritates the throat. So, if you're like me and frequent the water cooler every hour, temper your cold water with a little splash of hot to make it merely cool rather than one step up from frozen.

I had just had a major operation and my family doctor pointed one illness or trauma will often be followed others, so be extra careful. While still recovering from complications of the operation, I totaled my car and my sternum was cracked by the shoulder strap of the seatbelt.

Clip your nails. Probably not as important anymore in this day and age of manicures and extreme nail and under-nail care.
