Des Moines Public Golf Courses

I'm looking to plan a golf trip to Des Moines this summer and I need some advice on where to play. I'm looking to spend around $40 to $50 per round. I'm looking for public courses pretty close to downtown. Any advice???

I would second Waveland. Actually, it's your only choice for "public courses pretty close to downtown".
