What is a medication boost bar?

What is an anxiety medication "boost bar?"
A friend and I heard talk at work about a Xanax boost bar to "get you through until your next medication dose," or something like that. However, I'm trying to search the net and all I'm getting is a lot of spammy links selling medication (or the candy bar of the same name). I did ask the nurses at my doctor's office if they had heard of the boost bars and they said yes, but at the time they didn't have time to explain them to me. Is there a site with details on when they're prescribed, which medications come in that form, and what they look like?

Are you sure you didn't overhear them talking about the drug buspar?

Response by poster: Yes, I'm positive. It's not buspar.

It's hard to imagine it could be anything but buspar. Medications are generally not discussed as "boost bar[s]" by nurses, but buspar is a commonly prescribed anti-anxiety medication.

Best answer: Drug slang. See here and here. Haven't heard "boost" though.

I've heard this before, though not from folks who are taking medications as prescribed. I'm pretty sure that in the context to which you're referring boost bar is just a small dose of Xanax taken at a time other than that during which it's usually taken, like between normal doses (that is, of course, if you're taking it regularly and as prescribed).
