What songs have the same message and emotional cachet to the "Star Trek: Enterprise" theme song?

I'm writing a script for a sales convention. The brief calls for a "Star Trek" spacey theme, kind of like a "crossing boundaries, trailblazing" rah rah kind of message. "Faith of the Heart" keeps playing in my head. I want to add more songs that sound like this and say the same thing.

What songs should I recommend?

Not quite as rousing but Sailing to Philadelphia by Mark Knopfler has a similar message of crossing boundaries (or making boundaries, I guess... I dunno.)

I suppose Rod Stewart's Rhythm Of My Heart has a bit of that trailblazing message... ♪ Where the ocean meets the sky, I'll be sailing... ♫

My music library doesn't seem to have anything quite as opaque as "Faith of the Heart," but I may be able to help depending on the boundary conditions. Does the song have to have lyrics that convey this message, or can it be instrumental? Is this going to be presentation music or something else?

For example, am I getting warmer or colder with some of these (in order of relevance):

** "Shine On" by NEEDTOBREATHE This one may well be your best bet.

"Light and Day/Reach for the Sun" by The Polyphonic Spree Wow, that's a weird music video. I hate this song, but it's definitely conveys what you're looking for, even if it's quirky.

"Everlong" by Foo Fighters I'm not sure how much 'trailblazing' I hear in the song, but it definitely conveys optimism.

"Times Like These" by Foo Fighters Prototypical retrospective/nostalgia song. Cliché, but it gets the job done.

And for the instrumental suggestions (I'm reaching here):

"Yes I Am" by pg.lost It's a little long, but in my opinion, it conveys in six minutes a lifetime of building up and working to achieve a dream. I tend to picture an "Enterprise theme" styled montage leading up to the big climax at the end.

"Moksha" by Caspian You'd likely edit this instrumental 9 minute behemoth down a bit, it takes a bit to pick up.

I'll be a bit of a soundtrack dweeb and suggest a few pieces by Vangelis.

Across the Mountains from Alexander builds slowly, but is super-triumphant and chest-beat worthy. (It's available on the soundtrack without all the dialogue and sounds, of course.)

Conquest of Paradise from 1492 is another good one, but again, takes a bit to get rolling. (try starting around 1:45)

Don't know about the "sounds like" part, but for a similar message I'd suggest Green Day's "Waiting." ("I've been waiting a long time/For this moment to come/I'm destined for anything at all.")

Well, if you want more Diane Warren cheesy songs, you could use that Aerosmith song from Armageddon she wrote.

Then again, you could also realize that her oeuvre pretty much makes me want to go deaf.
