News Alerts

I am trying to find a service that will send me an email every time there is a news about a public company.

Many finance websites (such as Yahoo finance) have alert services whereby I can receive an email if the price of a stock falls below a certain threshold, rises a certain percent, etc. However I am just interested in company news. I am looking for a site where I can put in a ticker and my email address and every time there is news, I will get an email.

It should be linked to a stock symbol, not the name of the company as some of the company names I am looking at are very generic.

Any help appreciated.

Google News Alerts. Seriously, but in the symbol and see what you get, it may take a little refinement of your search term. I've worked in political press operations, and this is what we use to monitor people's names.

I am familiar with Google alerts, but it doesn't allow for stock symbols. It just has a search box. For example, the stock symbol for AT&T is "T." That just won't work. Putting in 'AT&T' also won't work because I will be getting alerts for anything that just mentions AT&T.

Google alerts doesn't seem like a good solution.

I did just find SmartMoney that seems to do what I need. Still curious if there are any other sites that people recommend.

There is a paid service called StreetEvents. Also, many company's investor relation sites let you subscribe to their press releases.

Here is an RSS feed from Google finance for att:

http://finance.google.com/finance?morenews=10&rating=1&q=NYSE:T&output=rss

To get this, put in a ticker symbol in Google finance and on the right look for "Subscribe" after the list of news.

If you really need it in email, I'm sure there are RSS to Email solutions out there.

This outfit will send you free email alerts whenever a public company does an SEC filing.

Here's a Google News search for apple stock news. you just need to put in the exchange, and wrap it in double quotes, search for:

"NYSE: AAPL"

then make an alert out of it.

Go to that companys website. I do this for six flags and I get an email with six flags stock price and also an end of the day stock price. I also have google news set so that I get an email that contains anything with Six Flags in it.
