Vancouver.filter: I'm in Vancouver for a week and was wondering if there are any neighbourhoods that have a concentration of shops that sell home accessories, linens and furnishings - much like the stretch of blocks along Toronto's King East, Queen West West and Queen East neighbourhoods.

I'm looking more for home accessories that I can bring back with me to Toronto at the end of the week, although I also can't resist browsing furniture shops. My taste is pretty broad - my current hit list includes the Montauk Scroll, clear glass coffee tables, Saarinen pedestal tables and pretty home accessories a la Anthropologie.

South Granville and its offshoots. Yaletown. Gastown (believe it or not - has some great vintage shops towards the South/East end - can start at Inform Interiors. South Main area has some younger stuff too. Lots of store ideas here.

There are a few nice stores in Gastown and Kerrisdale (41st and Arbutus) as well.

Granville St. south of the bridge to 16th has some interesting art galleries mixed in, as well.

Lots of fun little things here. Some beautiful (not cheesy) stuff at BC Ceramics at Granville Island. You might like Laura McKibbon's work - available all over the Lower Mainland (and BC Ceramics). Dear, Home Decor and Gifts. I would seriously kill for an Elizabeth Burritt vase - also available at BC Ceramics.

West Van is worth exploring. Just across Lion's Gate bridge, Park Royal south (ocean) side has some nice upscale stores, then Ambleside and Dundarave farther west along Marine Drive. Seawalks and beaches, too. Pick a sunny day.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm leaving tomorrow and wanted to update you all on the great shopping I had in Vancouver.

I spent most of my time on West 4th, Broadway and Granville and here are the favourites:
bed - they really do have what you want in bed because I went back to this shop with its cotton muslin linens in every colour under the sun not once, not twice, but thrice, and left with something each time.
Moe's Home Collection - a great collection of home decor accessories and furnishings; they had a bunch of Chinoiserie in stock for the Chinese New Year, and very affordable too (I wanted to leave with a couple of chests, both under $300 but transport is an issue...too bad)
18 Karat - great selection of home decor accessories in a modern, minimal space
Farmhouse - beautiful collection of new and found objects - go downstairs and check out their collection of vintage sleds!
Liberty - perhaps my favourite store because they've got everything - gorgeous comfy sofas, beautiful dining tables, fantastic accessories...they're apparently opening a store in Toronto next year and I can't wait! I left with a big-ass mirror that I have to somehow get back to Toronto but it's beautiful and not nearly as expensive as you'd think.

Oh! And Paboom was another favourite - they carry a lot of affordable home decor accessories, including these really great porcelein lamps. I left with a pair of pretty silver bird tealight holders.
