Battlestar Galactica Scene

In the opening credits of Battlestar Galactica, there is a brief scene of Dr. Gaius Baltar ducking down if front of Number Six (the blond cylon) as the windows of the lake house burst in from an explosion. What episode did this scene come from?

It might only be an outtake because I don’t remember seeing such a vivid scene, although, I am only half way through season 2.
(p.s. not too many spoilers please)

Best answer: It was from the miniseries.

Best answer: It was in the pilot/miniseries that kicked off the revival.

Best answer: The pilot. Baltar is ducking the attack on Caprica... it's assumed that that Six, standing, died while protecting him from the blast. Thereafter, Baltar's memory / visualisation of her becomes "Head Six". I'd recommend listening to Ron Moore's podcast during or after each episode... I feel it does fill in the blanks, fleshing out each episode a little more. Oh, there's there writer's blogs, too. :-)

This helps to answer some other questions I have.

In real life that's not a lake, btw. It's the view of Howe Sound from Lion's Bay, British Columbia, between Vancouver and Whistler.

You should definitely watch the miniseries before you continue with the second season.

Allow me to disagree on the necessity of seeing the miniseries if you've already gone through season one. Personally I didn't care for it and almost didn't start watching the ongoing show. There's some references there but nothing you can't pick up along the way.

Oh, and if you don't like spoilers then I'd STRONGLY suggest you stop watching the opening credits. I DESPISE the way they use scenes from the upcoming episode and on more than one occasion have had it give something away to me.

I agree too. Why would they show the most exciting parts of the show right before you actually watch it? It's the most ridiculous thing. I always close my eyes.

Huh. I really like how they do that, but so that the little shots never occur in quite the context that you expect and remain a surprise. They'll show you, I dunno but I'll make something up, a clip of someone with a gun to his head, but it turns out that that's just a training demonstration and that later the gun points the *other* way in earnest, or something like that.

I close my eyes too silverstatue! Battlestar Wiki says:
The format of the opening titles, a series of clips representing the story of the Cylon attack on the twelve colonies and the exodus of the fleet (all taken from the Miniseries), followed by clips from the upcoming episode, is a homage to the television series Space 1999, which Ronald D. Moore admits to having watched while growing up.

...and before Space 1999, Gerry Anderson did the same thing on Thunderbirds.

Tip: Don't go looking for old episodes of Space 1999. They're a bajillion times better in your hazy memory.
