Translate my snack

I bought myself an instant "yakisoba". Just add hot water. Right?

Here is a shot of the instructions.

From what I can tell from the woman at the counter, I add hot water, then drain it off after 3min and add the seasoning included. Is that right? There was a hell of a communication problem :)

Just a little bit. I think the ones I get call for a cup at the most. Use a fry pan and kind of stir-fry the noodles in it until they're done, then add the powder. There should be no liquid when you're done.

Response by poster: The noodles are freeze-dried kinda like a pot noodle. I don't think we have the same snack.

Best answer: If it's in one of the styrofoam containers, like the Nissin UFO Yakisoba, yeah, there's one side that you open and you peel off the opposite corner to reveal a drain. Open side A, pour in water, let it steep like a Cup o Noodles, peel the opposite corner off, drain into the sink, then add the flavor packets. I prefer to drain mine really well so there's no real residual water left.

You've got it right I think

Here is a photo I just took of some English instructions that you can judge against. Generally you cook the stuff just a little longer than cup ramen, and its best if you leave just a tiny bit of water in it so the powder mixes and it doesn't get too dry..

Response by poster: Absolutely spot on! I am eating them right now. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Too late, but a good trick to know is to take out the dried noodles before you put in the dried cabbage flakes and put the noodles back on the flakes before pouring in the hot water. That way, the cabbage won't get stuck to the lid as much after you pour out the water. Mmm mayo on yakisoba...

There are at least 2 kinds of noodles. Ones that you add water and microwave, and ones that you just add boiling hot water to. They don't mix well in my experience... Hot water in microwave noodles is nasty, microwaving the just add hot water noodles is nasty. That's about your only concern. Sometimes dry packets go in during the 'cooking' part, wet ingredients almost always come after cooking part. Flavoring things almost always go at the end (powder or liquid). If it seems dehydrated, it goes in at the beginning. Once you get the microwave with water, or add hot water and wait.... the rest is easy.

My interpretation of the instructions (might be wrong)

1) add seasoning
2) add water up to the line etched on the inside
3&4) drain
5) add sauce and eat
