I'm lusting after Pivot Stickfigure Animator 2.2. The problem is, I have a Mac and it's for Windows.

Assume that I am a novice at all things tech-related:

a) Is there another program I don't know about that I can use on the Mac to do stick-figure animation? Anything under $100 is potentially doable, I guess, but cheaper is definitely better. (Flash is hugely expensive and I hate to invest that much and then find out it is not for me.)

b) Alternatively, Is there some emulator or tool that will allow me to run Pivot on my Mac? If so, um, how do I do that?

Not sure how developed it currently is for OS X but give WINE a try. I've had good luck running fairly simple Windows programs on Linux under WINE.

I should add that you probably need an Intel machine. There was some effort to port WINE to the PPC machines but I don't think it ever got very far, or at least hadn't the last time I looked.

I have an Intel machine (Powerbook). I'm not sure how to work WINE, though, after I download it?

PowerBook's aren't Intel. MacBook's and MacBook Pro's are.

I have an Intel machine (Powerbook).

Go to the Apple menu, choose 'About This Mac', and tell us what it says by 'Processor'. Or tell us what the label underneath your screen says.

Ugh, don't know what I was thinking. I meant "Macbook Pro," not Powerbook, so of course it is an intel machine. Looks like I needed X11, too, which is why (I hope) I was having trouble with Wine.

Hooray! Pivot is working on my Macbook Pro. Thanks so much, everyone. (I used to have a Powerbook, but I haven't used it for a couple years now, so I don't know why I slipped up. But Wine works great!)
