DVD Rewinder Is this a satricial website, a joke product, or are gullible people being duped somewhere along the line? I'm guessing it's the first, but I'd like to know your thoughts... [seen at Gizmodo]

Given that they're selling a t-shirt alongside the so-called product, you can be pretty confident that they're selling a novelty product.

"The DVD Rewinder will spin discs backwards and plays a "rewind" sound. "

They describe the product accurately, and don't seem to make any claims about it actually rewinding any DVDs.

For the tech hip, the DVD Rewinder also has an additional MP3 port and plays a separate "rewind" sound.

Huh? Is an MP3 port something I'd need a physical MP3 to use?

As I understand it, some video rental stores that routinely apply "Please rewind" stickers on their tapes sometimes suffer a brain spasm and place one of these stickers on their DVDs, to the befuddlement of some and the amusement of others.

You've obviously never been unlucky enough to get a DVD some bastard forgot to rewind, sprintf. If it happened to you, you'd darn well take it seriously! The DVD rewinder provides an essential function that has been missing from commercial DVD players for far too long now.

I've heard the explanation that video rental stores use anti-theft stickers with different things printed on them, sometimes they'll run low and have to stick some "Please rewind" ones on DVDs.

This would be more fun if it was a disc cleanner humorously labled as a disc rewinder.
