 In most of the residential &quot;designer pools&quot; that I&apos;ve seen, railings are not part of the design; most pools, in fact, make no use of hand railing.  But where there is a hand-railing in really stylized pool construction, most of the railings appear to be pretty standard, which I assume arises out of safety taking precedence over aesthetics (particularly in commercial pool construction, where the owner bears a significant liability vis-&#225;-vis the safe usability of the pool by a large number of people).</description>
