In love with Slashfood, looking for alternative "food blogs".

I stumbled across Slashfood a while back and it has introduced me to some great recipes. I'd like to find other food blogs that are aimed towards healthier/vegan meal ideas and ingredients (My family is not vegan, but I assume a vegan recipe would use healthy alternatives to typical American ingredients).

Feel free to post non-healthy blogs too if you know of any, can't hurt to look!

Smitten Kitchen is my personal favourite. Deb Perelman is a lovely writer, funny, and her food is generally healthy (although watch out for her killer desserts. She usually makes efforts to swap out high fat cream for lower fat milk, and things like that.

i like apartment therapy's kitchn blog.
also, 101 cookbooks is known for its fresh, healthy recipes.
gluten free girl has a lot of great veggie recipes.
vegan lunchbox has some great ideas.
serious eats is a good place to look for recipes both healthy and decidedly not.
chowhound's home cooking topic board may also have some good resources.

Tastespotting is an aggregator of all things foody. I've found some excellent things via that place and they have a good mix of vegan/healthy/utter decadence. Caution: Food Porn.

I find this site to be a quick but refreshing little stop. It has a few recipes, but not many. I just like to read what she has made and imagine how good it is.

I love Slashfood and I also love Coconut and Lime and Simply Recipes. Neither of them are particularly healthy, but Coconut and Lime has lots of vegan recipes and she also uses a lot of interesting esoteric ingredients. Simply Recipes is just goddamn good food but she also has a sizable number of vegetarian recipes. They both take excellent pictures also.

From my vegan feeds:
Author blogs:
The Post Punk Kitchen Blog
Byranna Clark Grogan

And she's not published but has the greatest blog on the planet:
FatFree Vegan Kitchen
I highly recommend that one for healthy vegan meals.

not a blog, but a decent community is Group Recipes. included among the many food blogs I check are 101 Cookbooks, Simply Recipes , (already mentioned) and one that might have more appeal to you, A Veggie Venture. Cooking For Engineers is an old favorite.

Just Hungry focuses mainly on healthy Japanese cooking, including vegan/vegetarian. Also her new site Just Bento. Her mission is to make Japanese cooking, which is healthy anyway, user-friendly for non Japanese people. So they are my wife's sites, but I'd recommend them even if she dumped me! Seriously.

Maybe you'll find some cool ideas at my site? I write about vegetarian and vegan restaurants as well as my own homecooking. Most of the stuff I make at home is super simple and healthy (considering that I don't really know how to cook but really enjoy pretending). Check it out at www.toliveandeatinla.com

Hey Sufi, Marisa from Slashfood here. I'm so glad to hear that you are enjoying what we do over there. I think that all that suggestions everyone made are terrific. Smitten Kitchen, 101 Cookbooks, Chocolate and Zucchini, Traveler's Lunchbox, Simply Recipes and French Laundry at Home are some of my favorite food sites. To throw out there a couple that haven't yet been mentioned, I'm also a big fan of Cookthink, The Wednesday Chef and the Amateur Gourmet.

If there's something you'd like to see more of on Slashfood, I'm always happy to get feedback.
