Question: Why why is is Firefox Firefox repeating repeating words words??

Why does Firefox occasionally repeat the right-click spellcheck suggested words?

This is perhaps easiest explained in a screenshot: BAM!

Ocassionally, after spellchecking a few words in Firefox, the words start to repeate themselves which makes my right-click menu super long and annoying. Any clues as to why this would be happening, or how to fix it?

Windows Vista Home Basic, Firefox 2.0.0.11

Mine does the same thing. Same specs as you too. Just wanted to let you know that it's not isolated. As for a solution, I have no idea.

Firefox for Mac uses the OS built-in spell-checker / dictionary. I believe FF for Windows does the same. So the next step may be to try IE and see if it does something similar. If IE does it, then MS has to fix it.

Suggested words will sometimes get "stuck" in my context menu, but never repeated like that. Restarting the browser fixes it, and it happens infrequently enough that I've never looked into a solution for it. But yeah, it's not just you.

Yes, I should have added that a browser restart fixes the problem temporarily.

What's the situation that created that screen shot?

I'm trying to reproduce it and I can't. What were you clicking on exactly?

Also, you've got quite a few extra nonstandard things in your right-click menu -- was it doing this before they got added? Maybe one of them's to blame for the menu not re-setting itself.

AmbroseChapel: I'm clicking on misspelled words. (However, this begins to show up on ANY right-click once the problem starts.) About the first 5 or 10 times I fix a misspelled word, everything looks OK. But at some point (it's random), FF starts to remember old words I've spelled incorrectly, and offers up the suggestion repeatedly as shown in the screenshot.

As for add-ons, I only have a few, and it's been happening well before I installed those.
