Calculating soil moisture balance using the Penman and Grindley method. Please help!

Sorry to ask such a dull question, but the exam is tomorrow and I just can't seem to find a clear explanation anywhere on how to perform this calculation. How do you calculate SMD, step-by-step? Thank you in advance if anyone can help!

There is a pretty good explanation in this book: Soil Moisture Deficit
But I suspect you have this already.
