Where can I get rubber letters, and how do I order them?

If I wanted some pre-cut letter shapes made for me out of a material similar to a tire inner tube, what sort of request would I make? What would I call the material so that the manufacturer understood? What, if anyone has ordered similar, is a decent place to order from? Thanks!

Response by poster: Note: thinner than an inner tube is better, and I want a variety of colours.

This place seems like a good place to start; you can buy small quantities, and they have people you can call and talk to.

Inner tubes are typically made of butyl rubber, but I don't know if it comes in colors.

Not sure how involved you want to get, but you might try this place: emachineshop.com.

They have a simple software package that you download, draw or type the letters you want, pick the material and it'll give you a price quote and you can purchase right from the software.

I've never actually purchased anything from them, but I've used the software quite a bit to get prices and it's not as hard as it looks.

the only one-stop shop might be a gasket manufacturer - but unless you are ordering thousands they probably won't be interested in talking to you. as for DIY, look into getting a die made - should cost around $50-100 depending on complexity of the die. Google "die-cutting" for more info.

In Australia, I would definitely chat to these guys - Clark Rubber.
