Will Lapeyre stairs work for a roof hatch in a Brooklyn apartment?

What do you know about roof hatches in Brooklyn co-ops, Lapeyre stairs, and the ol' DIY spirit? Can I just order or a pair, or is this a job for a contractor? Do I have to get an architect involved or something?

yes you need a pro (not really a contractor). specifically, a roofer. don't mess with DIYing anything roof.

You need to contact your building permits department. And no, don't do it yourself. The stairs would be the least of your problems.
