Mystery surrounding a miracle in Coachella involving a cross which burns bright in a window, even at night?

A good friend of the family recently spoke to me of a trip to Coachella valley in California. It was a pilgrimage of sorts. The trip was led by a priest of a church that he was a part of.

He says they arrived in Coachella valley and heard the story of a young boy who saw this light in a window. The light is a clearly defined cross and it doesnt come from inside the window but behind it. That is, it can only be seen through the window and glows brightly, both day and night.

According to him, there were entire pilgrimages there - other church-led groups. He even had to wait his turn to see this miracle cross.

Skeptical of course, I thought I would Google this and get more information about what this is really about. Unfortunately trying to google Coachella just brings up a glut of results involving the music festival there. I´m assuming this ¨miracle¨ has a name and somebody else here may know what this is all about...

He´s not making this up. He went several years back and told me specifically it was to Coachella to see this. Only know did I bother to get the details of what he was doing there.

I did find references to similar happenings in CA in Sylmar and in Thermal, but no specific link to the Coachella cross yet, although it is mentioned in the first link.

El Monte and East LA had similar incidents.

I grew up in SoCal. Unfortunately, these things are a dime a dozen there. Seriously, there were "cross sightings" featured on the local TV news every year. Chalk it up to Mexican religious culture (where "magic" like this is a very real thing) and local TV news desperate to air something unusual.

That is, it can only be seen through the window

So it's like, a reflection?

There's a lot of drugs in Coachella. I'm just sayin'....

I'm with Cool Papa Bell. It seems to happen a lot more often in areas of hispanic Catholic culture because the people are more open to the possibility of the supernatural being real (see el chupacabra). If anything could possibly look like Mary or Jesus or a cross, they're on it. They also try to attract it in hopes that such a miracle will fix their problems in life. In LA, it's common to find spirit stores selling milagros & stuff to attract (or repel) spirits. In my kitchen I keep a Mexican air freshener on hand that fights evil... just in case. 'Cuz you never know when evil will show up and want something to eat. (And yes, my can of Go Away Evil spray also has 20% more evil-fight for "free." Which rocks.)

er, i don't get it. the homeowner is claiming that there is no possible source of light in the bathroom strong enough to create such a glow in the window yet she's got a floodlight sitting in there? hm. anyway, i've always assumed that the pattern of the window frosting is responsible for creating such a shape, much like a star filter on a camera does. because when i look out my frosted bathroom window at night, i can totally see light shaped crosses everywhere. is that so unusual or do not enough people have the same window frosting as we do?

[a few comments removed -- I have said this before but putting your off-topic comments and/or wisecracks in small text does not make them okay here. Please take stories and asides to MeFiMail or MeTa]

Thanks all. I am aware that there are lots of these kinds of things. But I was trying to track down a specific one even if the details I provided weren't necessarily complete.

Some details in Yamwotlam's link match up with some other recollections of my friend so I am pretty sure thats it.

Thanks!
