I played a piece in orchestra in high school that I think was named Aces Däd, but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

In high school I played a dirge called, I think, Aces Däd. It's a Germanic named dirge about a person named Aces, but I can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere. I may have the diphthong in the wrong place, or the Däd spelled incorrectly. The 'dad' is pronounced 'daad', with the long 'a' sound.

The Norwegian name, by the way, is Åses død, which is why you might be remembering it the way you are.

Although neither a dirge or an orchestral piece, that would be AWEsome to see a high school orchestra perform that song. Would rock all those 'lets go to another high school shindig' parents. And grandparents :P
