What'sThatBookFilter: A not-recent, nonfiction book by a female editor in which she, among other things, writes letters to her authors?

The book may be a memoir, it's definitely non-fiction, unlikely to have been written within the past 30 years. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

What do you mean by "her authors"?

^The authors whose work she edits.

Sorry I don't know the answer to the question.

You might be thinking of Dear Genius: The Letters of Ursula Nordstrom. It was published in 2000, but the letters are drawn from Ms. Nordstrom's career at Harpers from 1943-1973. A lovely collection.
