Looking for a Creative Commons Lawyer

Please help me find a lawyer with Creative Commons license experience

We would like to use a large amount of Creative Commons licensed works for an upcoming website. We would like to display the works, not sell or modify them, but since it is for a for-profit company I think it will still fall under commercial use.

Our current lawyers have never worked with CC licenses before and I would love someone who can hit the ground running. While not mandatory, it would be great if I could find a Canadian lawyer since it's a Canadian site.

The ultimate Creative Commons lawyer would be Lawrence Lessig, who founded the project. Vogel and Associates work in the space. You might want to try asking the cyberlaw departments at Stanford and Harvard for their advice. Or try Fred Von Lohmann, lawyer at the EFF, if he knows anyone. Telephone number published on the EFF website.

Second Colette Vogele... she has her own podcast (Rules For The Revolution) on Creative Commons issues with the law. (Which I've not listened to but heard it recommended)

Cathy Kirkman at Wilson Sonsini helped draft the CC licenses. She's smart and a great person. Not sure if there are any conflict issues, though, from that or her representation of the Creative Commons organization. Coincidentally, she posted on her blog about the 5th anniversary of the CC licenses the other day.
