Where can one buy an unlocked GSM phone in Manhattan?

Where can one buy an unlocked GSM phone in Manhattan? Not smartphones or iphones, but common phones like a RAZR for example.

I'd go to Chinatown -- any one of a dozen hole-in-the-wall shops there will have all matter of phones, all unlocked.

Craigslist? Find someone local to meet you somewhere and buy it off him/her? (Worked for me in Vancouver, anyway...)

If you go to J&R, I recommend the Motofone F3. Super battery and nice sleek simple phone.
