Wining about this puzzle

I'm trying a dry run with
this wine puzzle (the metal wine caddy version) that I plan to give as a gift, and I'm having a tough time assembling it via the enclosed instructions. I may just give up and drink this wine instead. Do any of you have any firsthand experience assembling that puzzle and could offer a few pointers?
