How do I find an old Penpal I haven't written to in ages?

How would one go about trying to find an old penpal who would no doubt have internet access but whose last name I can't remember and who also I haven't written to for about 15 years or so? Also, she would have changed address since the last one I can remember.

So I had a really fun correspondence happening with Nicky from Mistley, Manningtree in England in the early 90's which this comment reminded me of. I'd love to find her and catch up. How would I go about doing that?

Perhaps whoever runs this site would have some ideas, if you give them all the info you can remember.

Having an age might help if anyone on here is from the area, and certainly if you can remember things like a school name you can check in all the usual social networking places.

Also, there is certainly a strong English presence on facebook that if Nicky would be in the right age range to be using it she might be on there.

Local post offices can be quite good, they're usually staffed by people who know everybody in the village and have done for years. phone number for Mistley postoffice

If you know Nicky's surname, then try the phone book or 192.com.

facebook?
do you remember any other details about her that are a bit more specific, like a sibling's first name, or names of friends? ideally unusual first names that you can search for ("nicky" is too common). or try a facebook group search by name of school (you can probably check the school board site in her town and just look for a familiar school name if you don't remember).
i've found old friends on facebook by looking through likely school alumni groups and finding their siblings or friends.
