Resurrecting saggy jeans

What can you do when the ass falls out of your jeans?

I have some Levis that are still in great shape but have stretched over time and now have the dread saggy butt. Is there anything that can be done? Take them to a tailors, etc? Or is it not worth it?

Pretty sure that it's not reversible. i'd try ebaying to see if you can get old pairs of the same fit/cut you like. otherwise, time to donate them and get some ones.

a tailor might be able to do something by bringing them in around the pockets, but you might be better off spending your money on a new pair entirely.

What I have started to do is buy jeans that are just a wee bit too tight when I try them on in the store. Then, when they get stretched out (this usually happens after wearing them just a few times) they will fit perfectly. I also avoid "stretch" jeans, because those tend to be the ones that lose their shape the quickest.

can you wash them in hot & throw them in the dryer? not sure if that would just shrink them in the length, though- i don't really use the dryer- so get more advice from others before trying this.

For 100% cotton jeans, I've had some success shrinking specific areas by turning up my water heater and running very hot tap water over just the areas to be shrunk. Obviously, be careful not to burn yourself. If the jeans are a lycra blend this will kill the strechyness, and not in a good way.
