How do I keep from getting my dog's roundworms?

So this morning my dog threw up what appeared to be a roundworm. Yay, vet trip. But I want to make sure that neither me nor my family get roundworms. Aside from washing hands a lot, is there anything we should do to make sure this doesn't spread?

Not to be gross but don't ingest feces and you'll be fine. the deworming is a one treatment deal and will be cleared up in about a day or so.

Depends on what kind of roundworm. Most of them are host-specific and won't bother infecting you.

I'm sure you've thoroughly disinfected the area where your dog threw up, yes?
