Drug interactions while taking Mobic (meloxicam)?

Due to a recent injury, my ortho has prescribed 15mg daily doses Mobic. I seem to have escaped any sort of stomach/g.i. issues that can be associated with this drug, but I seem to have a cold looming on the horizon...

Assuming no stomach, kidney, liver, heart, blood pressure issues what sort of over the counter flu meds can I take while on NSAIDS ? What if I get just an average, everyday headache?

Yes, I know YANAD, but my ortho's out of town for the week. And yes, I'll call my local Walmart pharmacy in the morning, for what its worth. No, I don't plan on popping 6 Advil a day for any extended period of time.

But I do wonder what folks on these meds do for the occassional, unrelated, aches and pains of life.

Here is a list of drug interactions for Mobic (scroll down a bit). It looks like regular cold meds should be okay, but definitely ask your doctor or pharmacist to be sure.

Any pharmacist can tell you this -- it's their bread & butter, and they're 10000x more accessible than doctors.

My husband takes mobic, and takes tylenol as well, both for extra pain relief and as part of DayQuil. He doesn't take advil or aspirin (I think they're bad with mobic, but---of course---call the pharmacist). For what it's worth, we called the pharmacist about mobic and Pepto Bismol, and he said it's fine as long as it's a couple of hours after you take the mobic.

[you might want to tag with Mobic as well...]

i take a high-dose nsaid for arthritis and was told that the only otc painkiller i should take is tylenol, because the others will wreck my stomach.

call your pharmacist.

I'm not a pharmacist yet - but I'll echo those who said take tylenol (acetaminophen). A lot of people don't realize tylenol is not an nsaid. You want to avoid other nsaids like ibuprofen and naproxen since mobic is also an nsaid.
